  • Playing with Smoke

    Playing with smoke is an ALL STAR band that calls Colorado Springs home. The members, Matt Martinez is a native of the area and has been playing piano and keyboards all over the state and country with various bands over the years.

    Guitarist and Singer Jonny Nelson is from New York City has been a professional musician with studio and live performances all over the country and had a record deal in Europe. Jonny worked on Broadway while in New York and is proud to have performed at the world arena in Colorado Springs.

    Tony Wall plays the Bass and toured years ago with Matt and Jonny with one of Colorado’s most notable local bands The Nocturnal Tomatoes. Tony hails from Buffalo and his musical interests started in elementary school on woodwinds and then evolved on to the bass guitar. Tony moved to Colorado in the 1990’s and has been active on the music scene ever since.

    Jim Baggarly is the drummer and is from the great state of Texas. Jim played the Dallas, Fort Worth area for years as one of the area’s top pro’s, and developed a name for himself in some of the biggest country rock bands in the area. Jim is also a United States military veteran. The band continues performing great music and classic HITS to crowds all over Colorado.

    Young and old enjoy the music of Look’ee Here playing vintage blues and jazz from Delta to Piedmont to Chicago blues. From old time jazz to originals. Vocals with guitars, cornet or trumpet, harmonicas, slap upright bass, washboard and an occasional kazoo make up the unique sound of this trio.

    The band, while only in its third year, has produced one CD with another on the way due out at the end of May 2024. Don’t miss the unique vintage sound of Look’ee Here. Dancing shoes encouraged !!!

  • Grass it Up

    Steeped in American music traditions such as bluegrass, folk, ragtime, rock and country, Grass It Up has shaped a unique brand of Americana that expresses the feeling of life in today's American West. Their stories translate to timeless songs that touch the heart of their listeners, and their melodic instrumentation bends rules. Grass It Up has been producing their own original music since 2005 and is celebrating their 6th full-length album, Borrowed Time, recorded live at the Western Jubilee Recording Company. Grass It Up brings a headline performance and has warmed up the stage for classic performers like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the Oak Ridge Boys, and bluegrass bands including Crooked Still, Front Country, the Ragin’ Cajun Doug Kershaw and the Yonder Mountain String Band.

    Grass It Up is renowned for their thought-provoking songwriting, high energy and engaging live performances. You can find them at iconic venues like Colorado Chautauqua, the Governor’s Mansion, and the Broadmoor Resort. Festival season brings public showcases including the world renowned Walnut Valley Festival, Keystone Bluegrass & Brews, High Mountain Hay Fever, Meadowgrass Music Festival, and Bluegrass on the Arkansas.
